In the early 20th century, stawberry fields stretched across most of te Hamble Valley, in particular Botley, Hedge End and Bursledon, a lucrative if tiring rural industry, supplying hotels and restaurants across the UK.  Trains known as "Stawberry Specials" from Botley station took many thousands of pounds of stawberries daily to London, Glasgow, Cardiff and Manchester.

Primrose Cottage is located in the heart of the Hamble Valley, a beautiful area of Southampton backing on to the Itchen Valley Country Park. Genuine care and attention to detail is what makes Primrose Cottage special, your host Janet will make your stay here complete with her generous breakfast and warm welcome.

The Hamble Valley's coastline stretches along the solent and Hamble River - Mecca for the yachting world.  The Hamble Valley incorporates the parishes of Hamble-le-Rice, Burseldon, Hound, Botley, West End and Hedge End, plus the Victorian railway town of Eastleigh and the largely residential Chandlers Ford, Bishopstoke and Fair Oak.  Together with 800 acres of unspolit countryside, it's here waiting to be explored.
